Advice on Dating

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

Dating advice is abundant on the Internet, in magazines, books, newspapers and on TV. There was even an eight year old kid who wrote a book filled with sound dating advice. (That kid really is pretty clever and must be pretty popular with the girls, because although fairly basic, all of his dating advice is good sense. |If you read the book, you will be forced to agree that that eight-year-old kid does know what he’s on about and that he keeps it simple. And that is the point really: when it comes to dating, keep things simple.

Leave your past in the past. There’s a reason it’s called the past. The first thing any giver of dating advice would tell you is that a fresh start is important for a date to go well. Boring your date with tales of the ex’s misdeeds is a definite no-no. Don’t let old grudges get in the way of new opportunities.

‘Do as you normally do – just be yourself’ is surely the best dating advice there is. Without dobt, people like to excel, to shine and impress their date, but faking it will only make both you and your date feel uncomfortable.

Not to expect too much (nor too little) is also good dating advice. If you expect too much from one date or from te person you are dating, it is highly likely that you will be discouraged by the results. After all, your date is only human too and first dates are generally at least slightly awkward.

One of the most frequently asked questions is: who foots the bill? The consensus in dating advice is that he/she who suggested the date pays. However, other people declare that it’s better to go Dutch every time and avoid hassles. There is yet another school of thought on dating advice that suggests that the man is not a “gentleman” if he doesn’t pick up the tab. In the case of a difference of policy between you and your date, come to a compromise that is mutually acceptable.

Maybe texting your date before your meeting is also a sound idea as it puts him or her at their ease and allows you to discuss interests or hobbies informally – in a less tense environment than a first date would be. This can help you choose a setting for the date that you would both enjoy.

The most important bit of dating advice though, is to remember that no one date is a deal-breaker. No date is the end, so if one doesn’t work out, why worry, there will be others. And if they doesn’t work, there are plenty of other people to go out with.

Organic Dog Food

Friday, July 24th, 2009

The desire for healthy, organic food appears to apply equally to pets as to people, since many pet owners would rather buy organic foods to feed their four-legged friends. One could be forgiven for being taken aback by the large amount of organic dog food on offer in the market. Just like for humans, there are many of pet health issues that one could cure or even prevent completely by the use of organic pet food.

For example, organic dog food could lessen the chance of the dog getting skin diseases and allergies. The reason for the positive health impact is the absence of additives, chemicals, colourants and pesticides. Instead the ingredients in organic dog food are only grain extracts and high quality proteins.

Healthy, organic dog food contains more nutrients, which is obvious from the greater levels of energy and the normal weight of the dog. Furthermore, normal dog food can cause diabetes and excess weight with all the other problems that accompany these illnesses: back ailment, organ failure and decreased mobility. How can organic dog food help here, then? Well, simply because organic pet food does not contain bulk filler; they are nutrient-packed products that create energy not fat. Moreover, it is far better and definitely a lot easier to prevent health issues than try to treat them later.

Good digestion and a stronger immunity system are the other main benefits that come with the use of organic dog food. Due to the absence of chemicals normally present in ordinary pet food, your dog will no longer vomit or experience wind or diarrhea. A healthier metabolism is what you will achieve with a healthy diet. Furthermore, the quality of the nutritional substances in organic dog food, boosts the immunity functions, thereby reducing the risks of infection and all sorts of specific diseases that affect dogs on a routine basis.

Many veterinarian experts claim that organic dog food significantly increases the life span of any animal, not to mention the fact that it will pass through old age a lot better. It is quite common that pet owners who choose organic dog food, are also interested in applying the same health rules to their own diet, sticking to clean natural products that enhance bodily functions and avoid toxins and disease.

Ask your local dog food provider about organic dog food and if there isn’t any at your local shop, try to buy it online. There are plenty of web sites that sell such products at pretty good prices.

One last bit, be very, very careful with dried dog food like biscuits, no matter what the label says. I used to have a dog called Becky that stayed at home alone during the day, while I went to the office. I didn’t like to leave ‘wet’ food, because of flies, bacteria and vermin, so I bought dry food, which would not deteriorate during the day. However, within six years she had contracted diabetes, which meant that I had to inject her with insulin every morning. The vet said that it was very common for dogs fed only on dry biscuits to contract diabetes, so check with your vet first of all or feed organic tinned food.

The History Of The Hybrid Car

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Just where did a hybrid car get it’s beginnings? Well, read on to find out. Hybrid cars are very popular to today’s car buyers, and there are many reasons why. But before you even think about choosing a hybrid car to buy, you might want to know a little bit about the history of the hybrid car first.

Surprisingly, hybrid cars were around even before gas-powered cars. Back in about the year 1665, a Jesuit priest by the name of Ferdinand Verbeist began plans for a certain type of vehicle. That vehicle would be very simple, nothing complex, or intricate. Simple was all he wanted.

So it was that Ferdinand designed a vehicle that would have four wheels and would run on steam. It took roughly fifteen years of sweat and toil for Ferdinand to go through with his plan. He laboured to perfect his dream car. But no one knows for certain if he ever finished it because there is no physical evidence that his concept ever passed into reality.

Then in 1769, a man by the name of Nicholas Cugnot designed and developed a carriage that was driven by steam. This carriage really did work and it went at six miles per hour. This project was all well and good, but it was difficult to get the amount of steam needed to allow the car to go any significant distance.

A break through in hybrid car design finally came when Robert Anderson developed an electrically powered car in 1839. It was the first of its breed and was built in Scotland.

This model electric car was a highly applauded innovation of its time. However, the only problem was that it was very difficult to replenish the car’s battery. Some pioneers did come after Anderson, but they had the same problem of getting the battery recharged easily.

Finally in the year 1898 Porsche manufactured an electric and fuel combustion engine that was the first of its time. The car was called the Lohner Electric Chaise, and it could go up to 40 miles just using batteries.

Soon pioneers combined both a gas and a battery powered engine to power what would become today’s hybrid car. In 1999, Honda made a leap into the US market. It came out with the Insight. This was a lightweight two-door hybrid. Since then, hybrid cars have just been evolving and improving into what you see on the markets today. Hybrid cars aren’t just for techies who think it’s cool to combine battery and fuel power to get them where they need to go. Hybrid cars started out simple, and they are still simple today.

These days hybrid cars are becoming increasingly popular as people understand them better. In the 21st century, hybrids saw a boom in sales when the Toyota Prius came out on the streets. It was the first hybrid with four doors that was marketed in the USA.

Soon after, the Ford Escape hybrid became the very first SUV hybrid ever made. So there it is in a nutshell, the history of the hybrid car – today’s modern car.

Kitchen Decorating Ideas

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

It’s a Saturday morning and you’re sitting in the kitchen waiting for your coffee machine to finish its various gurgles and noises, so you can drink that all important early morning cup of coffee. Nonchalantly, you glance around your kitchen and notice a spot of paint missing from the corner of the door. It had happened years ago, but you never really paid any attention to it until now.

You continue to allow your gaze to wander and your eye catches a patch of mildew seeping in under the sink, then you see the ugly brown colour your ceiling has become just above where the cooker is.

The paint is slightly off colour, and the only papered wall is starting to look a bit outdated and faded. You take a fortifying sip of your now-ready coffee and decide that a little bit of kitchen decorating is needed.

How do you go about it though? And how soon can you get started? Now that you’ve finally noticed all the little bits and pieces of decay that you were quite successfully ignoring up until that moment, you can’t wait to begin your little kitchen decorating project.

However, that is where the crunch comes. Just how small do you want to keep your kitchen decorating project? Can you get away with just sloshing a fresh coat of paint on everything or will you need to go to the trouble of removing the wallpaper off the wall, and finding out what had caused that mildew stain.

It all depends on you and your budget, but if you can spare the time, energy and money, you’d probably be better off, in the long run. to get rid of all your kitchen decorating problems at once. That would include stripping off the wallpaper, replacing any carpeting or rugs, and perhaps even sanding down your wooden floors if you have them. However, if you’re going to do a complete job of kitchen decorating, you’ll also need that all important final coat of paint to smarten up your kitchen.

You may also want to think about replacing those tatty old curtains as they’re also probably looking distinctly old by now. So, go ahead and splash out on your kitchen decorating project and replace the curtains and while you’re at it, you should think of buying a new stack of tea towels as well. It won’t hurt to go all out while you can.

And when you’ve eventually finished, you will be able to sit back and enjoy your new kitchen and remember that weekend morning that started it all off. You’ll have absolutely no regrets whatsoever, since your kitchen decorating project has landed you with a far better kitchen than you had ever expected.

A feeling of contentment flows through you as you bring your new coffee mug to your lips. Life just doesn’t get any better than when youre enjoying the fruits of your labour.

Seniors and Dating

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

A ‘senior’, by definition, is someone older than yourself or, more broadly speaking, an older member of the community. ‘Dating’, by definition refers to the courtship between two persons – which is often romantic in nature – who are either looking or not looking to get married.

So, ‘senior dating’ is the romantic courtship between two people who are considered older members of society, or the romantic courtship of two people where at least one partner is an older member of society. When referred to as ‘senior’, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the person has to be above the age of perhaps – 60 years of age. People of above the age of, for instance, 40 years are also thought of as ‘seniors’, as people are believed to live ‘three score years and ten’ (70 years), half of which is 35.

Depending on which of the many senior dating services used (especially by means of online senior dating), the age group targeted may vary. However, generally – senior dating is for those who are above 40 years of age.

Senior dating allows seniors, who may be divorced, widowed or still single, an opportunity to meet people of a similar age group and to share ideas and interests or, if a deeper bond is established between the two, a more meaningful relationship. This allows seniors to enjoy life, just as they did when they were younger. Therefore, there are various senior dating services offered on the World Wide Web.

In these senior dating services, which are obviously intended for seniors, there are few photos in the profiles – which gives those who have uploaded their photos an obvious advantage. Also, some of these senior dating services offer additional services such as anonymous email, instant messaging, chat rooms and forums.

When you use these online senior dating websites, you should be able to make new local friends, and communicate with each other politely, so that likely partners can be found. Additionally, if you are meeting outside the online platform, you should be sure that the meeting is in a public place – especially if you are meeting each other for the very first time and do not know each other well.

A additional precaution you could take would be to inform someone you can rely on where you are going and with whom. However, if, for any reason during the meeting, you start to feel uneasy with the person you are with, just be polite and go home.

Even though these precautions and safety measures might be general knowledge, it is necessary to repeat them as it is preferable to be safe than sorry. You would do well to adhere to them too. In this way, senior dating will prove to be a successful way of permitting those who are divorced, widowed or have children, to be able to rebuild their lives and enjoy themselves again.

Child Safety and Online Dangers

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

What is there to say about the world children inhabit these days? Sexed-up television, pornographic Internet sites and videos and violent board games. A world that is lowering its standards, values, and morals every day, surrounds our children.

What makes it even worse is that we cannot use Parental Controls any more to prevent our kids from accessing websites of an adult nature. These days children are knowledgeable about technology and sometimes more so than their parents. How can we keep our children safe from online dangers? How can we as parents provide safety for our children, while still fighting the corruption that goes on in the world?

Parental Controls are available on most types of Internet software, yet today, children are skilled at by-passing these Parental Controls. So, what can we do? We can protect our children by monitoring their activities on the Internet closely.

How to use parental controls: It depends on which Internet provider you have, however, I will speak only of the Internet providers I am aware of, since not all programs are the same. To use AOL Parental Controls, you will need to go to ‘Safety’ on the toolbar and click on ‘Parental Controls’.

Once you get there, you will see a drop-down list of available usernames. Search for your child’s username and click on it. You will see a popup window appear. Click on ‘Edit Web Control’ and then click ‘Kids Only’, and close. Now your child is protected against websites that hold potential dangers.

Chat rooms pose serious threats to children, since anyone can go into these rooms, and often predators frequent these areas, so as to draw children into a web of danger. In the AOL browser, click ‘Safety’ and then click ‘Parental Controls’.

In the same way, click on the ‘Edit IM Controls’, ‘Edit E-mail Controls’, and ‘Edit Chat Control’ and complete the same steps as you did to establish the ‘Parental Controls’.

It is a good idea to set up passwords. Passwords will offer additional protection and safety for your child. Do not give the child the passwords, because this will give the child control over the Internet connection, and the child might also reset the controls.

It is also a good idea to use your ‘Popup Controllers’ too, since if you do not turn on the controls, pop ups could corrupt your system, or popup adult content, which your child will see when online. You can go into ‘AOL Safety’ at the toolbar to set these popup guards.

If you use Internet Explorer; open a page. Click on ‘Tools’ at the top menu, then click ‘Popup Blocker’ and then click ‘Popup Blocker Settings’. Read the details carefully and set the program at medium. Medium is the norm and will block most pop ups. If you put the settings higher than medium, you could find it difficult to open websites for browsing.

Some of the dangers presented to children online include: Internet Porn; Child Porn; Child Sexual Abuse; Mobile Porn; and more. So, your child is in danger, and if you want to conquer safety, you will have to monitor, and take steps to safeguard your child against online dangers.

According to recent studies, students have encountered sexual malpractices through webcams, instant messengers, and mobile phones. Additional studies show that pornographic websites are making more profit than each of CBS, ABC, and NBC television channels in a year. The studies say that the largest group that views porn sites are children. These children are between the ages of twelve and seventeen.

The results showed that about 74% of all the porn sites had uncontrolled banners, while another 66% of the websites did not issue ‘adult content’ warnings. Moreover, another 11% of the sites did not have ‘sexually explicit content’ warnings and 25% boxed in their visitors by not allowing them to leave their websites. Only 3% of the websites out of more than 14 millions adult websites requested adult permission for minors to visit. So, protect your child now!

Protecting Children with Mental Disorders

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Who are the predators? Predators are Cyber Stalkers, serial killers/rapists, rapists, paedophiles, women beaters, child abusers, thieves et cetera. Predators very often have mental problems that prevent them from behaving correctly in normal society. Children with mental illnesses are often the victims of these predators, and sometimes children with mental illnesses are the predators themselves. In fact, the distributor of one of the most dangerous viruses online came from an eighteen-year old English boy.

Dangers mental illnesses: Not everyone with a mental disorder is a danger to society. In general, predators with mental disorders are plagued with sociopathic, psychopathic and anti-social disorders, oppositional defiance, conduct control disorders, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorders (BPD), and psychosis. While there are a few other mental illnesses that pose a threat to our society, this is a list of the most common potential dangers that lurk on the streets and on the Internet.

How to save a child with mental disorders from dangers : Never treat your child as if he/she has a mental disorder. Treat your child as special, yet avoid treating the child as if he/she is mentally ill, because many mentally ill patients are extremely intelligent. Teach your child the same rules that other children have to live by and stick to those rules. Do not leave room for movement when danger is present. Teach your child respect by showing respect yourself.

Children with dangerous mental disorders will often engage in pornography, violent images, content, and so forth. This makes it difficult as a parent to protect your child. It is important that you enforce the laws. Never put yourself in danger while enforcing these laws, since some children with dangerous problems may cause you harm.

If the child refuses to listen to you, bring in the police and make sure that they do their job to help you enforce the rules. You may have to pay court fees and go through all sorts of rigmarole, but I can promise you that it will benefit you in the end. As a mother who has raised two boys with dangerous mental illnesses, I can tell you it isn’t easy but it can be done.

Children with mental illnesses often have brilliant minds that can often get past any parental controls and will do so without you even knowing. Take more time than normal to monitor your child’s activity online. Teach your child that giving out personal information is dangerous and encourage them to request your permission when considering divulging name, phone number or other information online.

Allow your child to take some responsibility for himself and always encourage your child to join in family discussions that concern them. Furthermore, encourage the child to be safety conscious by telling them to report any crime committed against them.

One of the hardest things you’ll ever have to do while raising a child with mental health issues is teaching him/her to stay away from violent images and pornography. It is almost impossible to keep them clear of this trash. However, it can be done, if you set a good example for the child to follow.

It is vital that you keep talking and listening to your child. Allow your child to express concerns, opinions, ideals, theories et cetera without demeaning the child. You will be amazed at the knowledge children with some mental illnesses have, if you will only listen to them.

The best advice I can give you for dealing with children with major mental illnesses, such as psychopathy, is to seek help and stand firm. For additional child safety tips for children with mental disorders seek advice from a qualified professional.

Remember: Children learn what they see and hear.
